Gedrick & David's wedding at Lyrath Estate Hotel in Kilkenny was a fantastic reminder that you don't need a huge crowd to have an incredible celebration. With around 35 guests, many of whom had travelled from different parts of the world, it was an intimate wedding full of personality, great music and some brilliant surprises.
From the beginning, it was clear that music was going to play a big part in their day. Gedrick and David had sent me an extensive playlist beforehand, along with some very specific requests for songs and dances at particular times throughout the evening. There was plenty to plan, but it all came together brilliantly and made the night feel really personal to them.
There was also a last-minute change of plans when the hotel needed to move the celebrations to a different function room due to noise considerations for other guests. I brought along some additional uplighting to help transform the new space and create a better atmosphere for the evening. It's those little extras that can make a real difference, particularly when plans change unexpectedly.
Once the music started, everyone really got involved. There were cultural dances, special requests and a few surprises along the way. One of my favourite moments was an impromptu fashion show on the dance floor to Madonna's Vogue, which was great fun and had everyone enjoying themselves.
What stood out most was how engaged everyone was throughout the night. Despite being a smaller wedding, there was a brilliant atmosphere, with guests coming together from all over the world to celebrate Gedrick and David.
It was a pleasure to be part of such a personal celebration, and a great example of how a little planning, flexibility and the right music can make a wedding truly memorable.
