Brian & Joanna’s wedding at Lyrath Estate Hotel was a smaller, more intimate celebration with around 35 guests, but that certainly didn’t mean a quiet night. I joined the party after the band and provided additional DJ time to keep the celebrations going. From the moment I took over the music, it was obvious that Brian, Joanna and their guests were really into their music and ready for a proper party. The crowd was a great mix of ages, so the music moved through a wide range of styles, with plenty of Irish sing-along classics thrown in for good measure. One of the things I really enjoy about smaller weddings is how close the couple and their guests are to the DJ. It creates a much more personal atmosphere, and on this night the requests kept coming. I played everything I could. A few of the requests even had me searching for tracks I didn’t already have to hand, but seeing the reaction on the dance floor made it worthwhile. The dance floor stayed busy all night, the atmosphere was warm and friendly, and it was a great example of how much energy a smaller wedding can have when the couple and their guests are really engaged in the music.
